Run In • Burn In • Stress Screening • Functional Test (FCT)

hatec provides a new and efficient handling concept for hot/cold testing in high volume production lines, using Thermo Boxes as carriers for PCBs and electronic assemblies.
• Modular concept: adaptable for every production volume
• Temperature range from -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to +302°F)
• Dynamic, fast temperature setting: within 4 minutes from
ambient to -40 °C (-40 °F)
• Passive, Power-On and Functional Test
• No icing or condensation at low temperatures
• Changeover and service at every temperature and ongoing
production
• Energy saving
• For all kinds of PCBs, with and without housing
Within a few minutes, PCBs and assemblies are brought to temperatures from -40 °C to +150 °C (-40 °F to +302 °F) for Functional Test (FCT), Run In, Burn In, Life Test or Stress Screening. Environmental Stress Screening using PTM Modules was designed for high volume production lines. The concept is modular and expandable.

Environmental Stress Screening for Every Test Concept
Due to the handling of the material in sealed Thermo Boxes, the temperature conditioned area of the system is reduced to a minimum. This allows the efficient use of all kinds of test strategies. All common functional test systems may be used: hatec provides the integration of existing systems as well as complete solutions including test program generation.
Save Test Handling Procedure
Each Thermo Box uses a RFID-TAG. It stores the required testing procedure, the system configuration and the current condition of the D.U.T. This ensures the integrity of the testing procedure under all conditions, even in case of a system error. It allows save assignment of PASS/FAIL test results for each device.
Storing individual test schedules of the D.U.T.s by means of RFID-Tags in each Thermo Box, allows an easy and trouble-free configuration of large PTM-units, consisting of several modules for high volume production lines, even for various individual test conditions.
Fast and Dynamic Temperature Setting
The system is suitable for all kinds of PCBs, with and without housing. A temperature range from -40 °C to +130 °C (-40 °F to +266 °F) may be reached within 6…7 minutes. The temperature change is adjustable, which avoids additional stress for the PCB under test.

Example:
Heating up of housed assembly (PCB in a closed metal cabine). Starting from ambient, +130° C cabinet surface temperature was reached within 3 minutes. It took another 13 minutes to reach this temperature inside the housed assembly (PCB surface and components).
Edge Connector Contacting at Each Temperature
The edge connectors of a PCB or an assembly may be connected at each temperature and on both sides, which allows Functional Testing (FCT) under each condition. Signal lines are short, for easy connection and perfect high frequency testing.
Thermo Boxes:
carriers for PCBs and electronic assemblies
hatec Thermo Boxes are providing the ideal temperature chamber. The size and profile of the integrated PCB carrier is adaptable to the current PCB or assembly. Depending on the size of the PCB or the assembly, a box provides multiple use. hatec Thermo Boxes are suitable for PCBs with or without housing. The special design provides a homogenous air flow inside. Integrated temperature sensors take care for efficient and precise temperature settling.

PTM Loader Unit:
The D.U.T.s remain in the Thermo Box during the whole testing procedure. Loading and unloading of devices may be done manually or automatically by means of a separate box loader/unloader or a robot arm.

Environmental Stress Screening using PTM Modules: modular and expandable
The system is modular. It consists of PTM Modules. It may be expanded by subsequent Thermal Conditioning- and Test Stage modules. Subsequent boxes are directly proceeded to the next module, which makes the system extendable for high volume production and individual test strategies.
